Councillor Responsibilities

Parish Councillors are elected every four years to represent the views of the local community and to act as a link between the residents and other organisations and authorities.
Local Councillors must live in the Parish or within 3 miles of the boundary.
At the time of election, they must complete a Declaration of Acceptance of Office which confirms that they will act within the National Code of Conduct at all times. It is also a requirement that they complete a Declaration of Pecuniary Interests. These documents will appear on the Parish Council website and at Shropshire Council.
If a vacancy exists between elections, the Parish Council must advertise the vacancy and any local resident can request an election. If no election is called, the Parish Council may fill the vacancy by co-option.
